UPSC Academic Mentor (Sociology)
A student support role dedicated to providing personalized academic mentoring, study planners, and strategic preparation advice to civil services candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct personalized one-on-one telephonic/video mentoring sessions with students to discuss their preparation strategy.
- Address and resolve students' conceptual doubts related to the syllabus (excluding core lecture teachings).
- Guide students on how to transition from basic reading to advanced answer-writing, reviewing their initial answer attempts.
- Help students structure customized study calendars, revision slots, and mock test schedules.
- Diagnose students' recurring mistakes in answer sheets and provide targeted study exercises to resolve them.
- Host small-group doubt-clearing sessions or webinars on general study strategy.
- Maintain logs of student interactions and monitor their performance trajectory.
- Act as a source of motivation and emotional support, helping students manage exam stress and burnout.
Requirements
- Senior UPSC aspirants who have written at least 2 Mains or reached the Interview stage.
- Deep knowledge of the UPSC CSE cycle, syllabus requirements, and time management strategies.
- Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with candidates.
- Highly patient, empathetic, and encouraging personality.
- Fluency in both English and Hindi to communicate effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
