The syllabus is split into two papers (250 marks each): Paper I (Fundamentals of Sociology: theories, thinkers, research methods, and core institutions) and Paper II (Indian Society: structure, changes, social movements, and contemporary developmental challenges).

In Paper I, the six thinkers who form the bedrock of the syllabus are Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, Max Weber, Talcott Parsons, Robert K. Merton, and G.H. Mead. In Paper II, focus is on G.S. Ghurye, M.N. Srinivas, and A.R. Desai.

These are useful foundation sources, but many self-study aspirants get lost in volume. For IAS Gurukul students, class notes, printed booklets and guided teaching are designed to cover the optional in an exam-focused way. NCERT/IGNOU can still be used selectively as supplements where needed.

The course typically spans approximately 4 months. Classes usually run about 5 days a week for around 2.5 hours per session, covering Paper I and Paper II systematically. Exact batch calendars are shared at admission.

After class topics, students practise related questions. Answers can be submitted as per the programme flow and are evaluated with constructive feedback on structure, thinker citations, examples and presentation so you can improve steadily.

The test series simulates exam conditions with sectional and full-length papers. It helps you manage time, structure answers logically, link theories to the Indian context, and identify weak spots before the actual UPSC exam.

Copies are checked by a dedicated evaluation team under mentorship aligned with Pranay Sir’s approach, with attention to sociological terminology, thinker linkages and answer quality.

Yes. Batch shifts (Online to Offline or Offline to Online) can be requested to accommodate study plans, university schedules or relocations, subject to seat availability and institute policy.

Yes. Sociology Paper II is dynamic and linked to current affairs. Classes regularly integrate contemporary societal updates (for example caste debates, tribal policies, gender issues and related developments), and registered students receive ongoing guidance for using current affairs in answers.

Yes. Aspirants can join through online live classes and recorded/flexi access, along with classroom coaching in Delhi, so the learning mode can match college or work schedules.
